Atlanta

Penelope,

When you were talking about your program being a terminal, I was thinking about my hometown, Atlanta, which originated as a result of the construction of a railroad terminal in the 1830's. The original name of the city was actually "Terminus" 20 years before it was changed to "Atlanta." Transportation was the catalyst for the city's growth both economically and physically. It is now one of the largest cities in the South.
You can probably find out a lot more info about how terminals (like ports) shaped cities across the nation, which I think is fascinating. I thought I'd throw that out there to help you cogitate :)
